Hangar 3 Door Replacement
Project Information
Hangar 3 is a WWII vintage aircraft maintenance hangar located on Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson, Alaska. The aircraft hangar doors had been replaced in an earlier project with metal doors that were not consistent with the original design. The Air Force requested that the metal doors be replaced with hangar doors that were consistent with the building's vintage and the original design.
The original construction documents were used to detail out the design and installation of the new doors, which now included vision panels. For energy efficiency, the new doors are glazed with insulated translucent panels rather than glass. The original tracks were kept and reused for the new doors. This project was completed in 2019.
