Fifteen units of low income housing designed and constructed for Petersburg in southeast Alaska. The development includes 13 two-bedroom units and 2 one-bedroom units.
The site combined three existing single family lots into one large area. The site has a steep north-south grade and a steep east-west grade. The design met the site challenges by stepping down in the east-west direction.
The development includes four accessible units - three two-bedroom units and one one-bedroom unit. An additional unit is outfitted for sight and sound notification.
The completed project. Local building codes required one parking spot per unit for a total of fifteen. Note the step down of the units in the east-west direction.
Local building codes mandated an open area equal to 15% of the total site. In this case, the open area is in the center of the development. The one-story unit on the lower left allows the sunlight from the south to illuminate the common area.
